The Isle of Thanet has an above average sunshine record for the UK . Has more ancient sites per km than anywhere in the country, St Augustine's Cross & abbeys, internationally important nature reserves, protected chalk cliffs, a Royal Harbour (Cinque Port), a wealth of listed buildings (Pugin, etc), Crampton (railways), literary connections (Dickens, Shelly, Buchan), oldest theatre stage in the country, award winning historical walks, Quex House (academically important, classical proms, events), festivals( folk week -100K+ people attend, gala day, fiesta weekend) an International airport, £20mTurner Centre opens 2007, a new shopping centre (Westwood Cross) at Broadstairs, Championship and local golf course, walking, cycling, sailing, riding - the list is endless.
